COP18 Side Event: Promising NAMAs in Latin America

Developing countries are making impressive progress on NAMAs that will achieve ambitious emission reductions and advance sustainable-development goals, many of which are beginning to seek international support for implementation. This side event featured several promising NAMAs being developed in various sectors in Latin America, including waste management and transit-oriented development in Colombia, the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic, coffee production in Costa Rica, and a Price Stabilization Fund for renewable energy in Chile. CCAP presented lessons learned from its Mitigation Action Implementation Network (MAIN) on the design of NAMAs, finance, and MRV, followed by a presentation on Canadian support for NAMAs. This side event was open to the public.
