Adaptation, Emergency Management, and Hazard Mitigation in Southeast Florida

This installment of the NHMA and CCAP Hazard Mitigation and Climate Adaptation Webinar series focused on existing adaptation, emergency management, and hazard mitigation techniques in the Southeast Florida area.
The webinar featured three speakers:
- Dr. Nancy Gassman, Natural Resources Administrator, Broward County Natural Resources Planning and Management Division
- Miguel Ascarrunz, Assistant Director, Broward County Environmental Protection & Growth Management Department, Emergency Management Division
- Bertha Goldenberg, Assistant Director for Regulatory Compliance and Planning, Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department
Dr. Nancy Gassman provided an overview of adaptation, emergency management, and hazard mitigation efforts in Southeast Florida, with specific examples from Broward County (presentation slides). Miguel Ascarrunz discussed how Broward County is integrating Emergency Management and climate adaptation planning (presentation slides). Bertha Goldenberg shared the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s approach to master planning, hazard mitigation and climate change adaptation (presentation slides).
